The new electric car market is starting to feel a bit stagnant in the U.S., as many brands have shifted most of their focus from
fully electric products to hybrids and PHEVs
. Despite this, there are some impressive electric SUV options that you can consider in 2025, from brands that have developed somewhat of a proven track record in the relatively young market. Many manufacturers suffered from an EV sales decline in 2024, but the entire market enjoyed a 7.3 percent sales increase thanks to a solid performance from the most dominant manufacturers. Demand for EVs remains at an all-time high this year, as gas prices continue to rise and consumers look for more ways to lower their monthly expenditures.
If you’re one of these people and are considering climbing into an
all-new EV SUV
, there’s a relatively new option from a very historic American brand that you should seriously be considering above all other options. It is one of the more premium options currently being sold, but it benefits from an impressive combination of luxurious interior touches, impressive electric efficiency, and no shortage of power. Its intelligently designed platform also means that you benefit from a very spacious cabin, making it an ideal option for families. Thanks to the brand’s extensive off-roading history, it’s also a fairly competent option for you to take into the wild, within reason.
In order to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from Jeep’s websites and other authoritative sources, including the EPA.

2024 Jeep Wagoneer S First Drive: A Wagoneer For The Ages And Beyond
Jeep dips its toes into the premium electric crossover SUV space and instead comes out with a cannonball.
The Jeep Wagoneer S Will Change The EV Game
The
all-new Jeep Wagoneer S EV
is finally available in the U.S. as an electrified counterpart to the Grand Cherokee. You would think that it’s an EV alternative to the
Wagoneer
, but this newcomer sits in the midsize SUV segment and only features a two-row seating configuration. Jeep bases this model on the Stellantis STLA Large platform, similar to the Dodge Challenger Daytona EV. The SUV features a pair of permanent-magnet-synchronous motors located on the front and rear axle, producing a combined 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet. The result is an impressive 3.4-second 0-60 MPH time with a limited 124 MPH top speed. This acceleration is an astounding feat considering the Wagoneer S weighs in at 5,667 pounds. The brand also confirms that the SUV can haul a
towing load of up to 3,400 pounds
and a payload of 1,033 pounds.

Jeep offers the Wagoneer S with your choice of a Falken or Pirelli tire compound. The former returns a 35 kWh per 100 miles combined consumption and 303-mile range estimate from the EPA, while the latter brings in a 39 kWh per 100 miles and 270-mile range claim. These aren’t the most outstanding figures to be seen in the segment, but it’s a fair trade for the performance that you get to enjoy.
The EPA also indicates that the Falken tire grade will help you save $4,250 in fuel every five years. You’ll spend $800 on electricity to recharge the 93.9 kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery every year, and spend $1.30 to drive the Wagoneer S 25 miles. Upgrading to the Pirelli tires decreases your five-year savings to $3,750 and increases your annual energy cost to $900 and the 25-mile driving cost to $1.46.

Everything That Stood Out To Me With The ’24 Jeep Wagoneer S
As a car, the new 2024 Wagoneer S is darn good, but here’s what I really thought about Jeep’s latest.
The Launch Edition Costs $70,795
The
2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition
is the only derivative available today, with a $70,795 starting price. Being somewhat of a special edition, you’ll find the standard equipment level to be quite preferable. The list includes dual-zone climate control with a rear HVAC system, heating, ventilation, massaging, and electrical adjustments for the front seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. There’s also no shortage of entertainment features, primarily thanks to the 45-inch digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen with HDMI connectivity. Jeep connects this to a comprehensive 19-speaker premium audio system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functions.

The Wagoneer S’s only standard color option is the Bright White and Black combination scheme. Baltic Gray Metallic, Fathom Blue Pearl, Red Hot Pearl, Silver Zynith and full Black paint schemes are all $595 options. Red seats will cost you $1,000 and if you want access to the towing functions, you need to specify the $995 trailer tow package. Jeep offers Neo Ultra Lux upholstery in black as standard. Being made in the U.S. and fulfilling all the requirements, the Wagoneer S is subject to the
$7,500 Inflation Reduction Act tax rebate
, making it even more of an appealing package. The destination fee is also a bit steep at $1,795.
The Wagoneer S’s Comprehensive Safety Equipment
Jeep makes no compromises when it comes to the Wagoneer’s standard safety equipment, with it including airbags for the driver and front passenger, front knees, curtains, and sides. Advanced driver assist systems include blindspot detection warning, forward collision warning with mitigation and left turn assist, and ParkSense with stop and side distance warning. You also get a fully adaptive cruise control as standard.
Leasing Deals For February 2025
If you’re interested in opting for a short-term Jeep Wagoneer S ownership experience, the brand is currently offering the model to select regions at an extremely competitive $369 a month fee over 24 months. The catch is that you can only do a mere 5,000 miles a month. You’ll have to pay 30 cents for every mile you exceed, which is a very
steep penalty by EV lease standards
. If you extend your lease to 48 months with a 15,000-mile annual distance cap, you’ll have to pay $1,247 a month. Jeep requires a $7,259 down payment for this deal.
Exclusive
The Wagoneer S is Jeep’s first-ever EV and the first Stellantis production vehicle to utilize its BEV STLA platform.
The Wagoneer S’s Generous Standard Warranty
As standard, all Wagoneer S models include a basic 36-month or 36,000 bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 60-month or 60,000-mile drivetrain warranty, and 60 months or 60,000 miles worth of roadside assistance. Jeep covers corrosion perforation defects within a 60-month period with an unlimited distance. It also benefits from the industry standard
eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty
.
The Wagoneer S is a brand-new EV that sits on a relatively new platform, so there’s no clear indication as to how reliable it is just yet. The model is also not subject to any recalls from the NHTSA at the time of us compiling this piece, but considering it is in its early production stages, there’s a chance that this will change as 2025 progresses. The Wagoneer is a relatively young vehicle, having been introduced in the last quarter of 2024. During this period, the brand confirmed that it was able to sell 231 individual examples. We anticipate that the 2025 Q1 result will be substantially more impressive than this. Once Jeep adds more trim variations to make it more accessible, its market success is bound to improve.
