Ford‘s EV effort produces a lot of headlines. Most of them aren’t great. Ford lost more than $5 billion in building electric vehicles in 2024. The brand has been dramatically rethinking already-announced EV strategies. And that’s before we get to the potential “costs and chaos” of tariffs. That should worry Ford shareholders. Buyers, however, should remain focused on two things. Ford’s two mass-market EVs, the Mustang Mach E crossover and the F-150 Lightning pickup, are excellent. Now is an especially good time to lease both of them.

Ford Lowered The Price Of The Mustang Mach E
Despite selling more than 50,000 Mustang Mach Es in 2024, Ford appears to be eager to help move the EV crossovers out the door. Ford lowered the price of the Mustang Mach E for 2025; it now starts at just $36,445 MSRP and comes with a potential $7,500 in lease cash. Ford is also offering savings on the remaining 2024 models. According to Cars Direct, the base level Mustang Mach E Select can be leased for as little as $229 per month with $4,329 down on a 24-month lease. An added $1,000 in conquest cash for Tesla owners can drive the price down even further.
The F-150 Lightning May Be The Best Deal On A Ford F-150
The all-electric F-150 Lightning may be the best F-150, if you don’t need to tow. And it’s almost certainly the best F-150 deal you’ll find, even with a hefty starting price of $62,995 MSRP. Cars Direct found an F-150 Lightning offer of just $249 per month with $6,809 down on a 36-month lease for a Standard Range model. Ford is also sweetening the deal with $2,000 conquest cash for Ram Owners and $1,000 for Tesla owners.
Ford Is Providing A Free Level 2 Home Charger For Both Vehicles
Want a great reason to lease a Ford Mustang Mach E or F-150 Lightning right now? They come with a free Level 2 EV charger. Ford extended its Ford Power Promise program through March 31st. The program provides a complimentary Ford Charge Station Pro charger and “standard” installation with any bought or leased Ford EV. The Charge Station Pro alone starts at $1,310. Installation costs for a Level 2 charger can run into the thousands. Buyers who already own an EV charge can opt for $1,000 in free fast charging as an alternative.
TopSpeed’s Take
Conventional financial wisdom typically advocates buying a new car over leasing one. However, EVs currently suffer steep depreciation. There’s a lot of uncertainty about how the EV transition will play out. Letting that uncertainty sit with the dealer by leasing may be the better option for an EV, especially if you can score a great deal. And for those looking to buy an EV, the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach E are both compelling options, especially if Ford is covering the Level 2 charger install.
