After literally decades of teasing the world about a potential microbus revival, Volkswagen finally got its ID.Buzz into serial production. Arguably, this all-electric van wears some of the coolest styling of any new vehicle available today, a tasteful blend of retro flair and modern elegance. Taking advantage of this boxy blank canvas, one VW dealership in Illinois decided to have a little fun.

Volkswagen has teamed up with Sony to show us an evil version of the ID. Buzz we didn’t know could exist.
“And I Would Have Gotten Away With It Too, If It Weren’t For You Meddling Kids!”
Embracing the retro vibes, Napleton’s Volkswagen of Urbana has done up a 2025 ID.Buzz to look like The Mystery Machine from the famed Scooby-Doo franchise. Anchored by bright blue and vivid green, this wrap fits this van’s square lines just about perfectly. And just like the cartoon original, there are some stylized flowers thrown in for good measure, and appropriate branding across the rear side glass, so everyone knows this is The Mystery Machine.
Reportedly, this wrap was a custom job, which makes sense, since most businesses that do this kind of work probably don’t have Scooby-Doo-themed vinyl graphics already cut out and ready to go. You’d never know it based on the outside, but this wrap was applied to a base white paint job, one of VW’s no-charge colors.
While far less distinctive than its exterior, the ID.Buzz’s cabin is still a lovely place to spend time. The linear, squared-off dashboard is attractive and highly functional, there’s a massive touchscreen to poke and prod, plus all seven seats are covered in a brown leatherette material that looks nice and should withstand years of abuse.

Based on an entry-level ID.Buzz Pro S model, this modern Mystery Machine is rear-wheel drive, and should have 282 horsepower along with 413 pound-feet of torque. The thing also offers an estimated 234 miles of all-electric range.
Aside from that, the vehicle features all the modern conveniences drivers expect in 2025. Accordingly, this ID.Buzz is fitted with adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, keyless entry and a whole heck of a lot more.
If you’re ready to live the retro-inspired life and have a thing for Scooby-Doo, this VW is currently for sale, though, unfortunately, it does cost a pretty penny. The dealership is asking $76,295 for this all-electric Mystery Machine. The ID.Buzz Pro S model starts at around $61,545 including $1,550 for destination, which means you’re paying nearly $15,000 for that fancy wrap and dealer markups. But hey, that price may be worth it to own a vehicle that looks like absolutely nothing else on the road.
