The 2025 Toyota Prius arrives with a new Nightshade Edition. Unlike other Nightshade models in the Toyota lineup, like the Camry and bZ4X, the Prius features a bold Karashi paint option – a far cry from the Nightshade trim’s usually monochromatic color scheme. In addition to the new trims, Toyota has also announced pricing for the entire 2025 lineup of the hybrid car.

Get The Good Color
Toyota’s new color takes inspiration from the Japanese mustard of the same name, and it’s easily one of the more enticing colorways in the Prius lineup. Other standard equipment for the Prius Nightshade includes black 19-inch wheels alongside black badging and trim. Nightshade models are based on the car’s XLE trim, which notably does not include all-wheel drive (a $1,400 option).
Unlike some Nightshade trims, the Prius’ does not include Toyota’s eight-speaker JBL sound system. Instead, owners will have to opt for that or make do with the six-speaker system. However, the Nightshade does benefit from the larger 12.3-inch center screen, whereas XLE models arrive fitted with the smaller eight-inch screen. The added screen real estate, in addition to the sweet new paint, certainly makes the Nightshade an enticing choice for 2025.

How Much Is The 2025 Toyota Prius?
Nightshade model aside, the Prius is unchanged for 2025. It features the same
2.0-liter four-cylinder engine
and a pair of electric motors powering the front axle, unless you opt for all-wheel drive, which adds a third e-motor to the rear axle. It’s a worthwhile choice, at only $1,400, though it does result in a loss of a few miles per gallon combined. 2024 AWD Prius models netted 54 MPG combined compared to the 57 MPG combined (2025 model year EPA estimates are not available yet, but don’t expect them to change much). Going for all-wheel drive does mean more power – AWD Priuses (Pri-i?) make 196 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque, whereas FWD models produce two fewer horses and the same torque.
